SAT Test Centers and Dates in Kansas

According to the College Board, there are 10 test centers for SAT and SAT Subject Tests in Kansas. Please note that before you register either of the SAT exams, you should choose your test date and test location. Each testing location is affiliated with an educational institution, such as high school, community college, or university. The following test centers administer one or more of SAT tests in Kansas.

In 1763, after the end of the Seven Years’ War, the lands of Louisiana (including Kansas) came under the control of Spain. France regained the colony only at the turn of the 18th-19th centuries, but already in 1803 sold it to the United States of America. According to the treaty signed in 1819 between the United States and Spain (known as the “Adams-Onis Treaty”), the southwestern part of Kansas (south of the Arkansas River) went to Spanish Mexico and became American again only after the end of the Mexican-American War in 1848.

The first Americans to explore Kansas were members of the famous Lewis and Clark expedition in 1804. Two years later, in 1806, across the prairies of Kansas and Nebraska westward to the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Zebulon Pike’s expedition passed.

Kansas was an unorganized territory from the time of the United States purchase of Louisiana, then from 1812 to 1821 it was part of the Missouri Territory, and after the formation of the state of Missouri again lost any administrative status. In 1821, the “Santa Fe Trail” route was laid through Kansas, along which trade caravans traveled to New Mexico. Fort Leavenworth, the first American settlement in the region, was founded in 1827 to protect trade routes in northeast Kansas. Since the 1930s, the wagons of thousands of settlers have traveled along the Oregon Trail, which also ran through Kansas, to the northwest United States.

In 1854, the Kansas Territory was created by the US Congress. The question of the legality of slavery in the new territory was left by the legislators to the discretion of the residents, which led to numerous clashes between its supporters and opponents. This period went down in US history as “Bleeding Kansas”. On January 29, 1861, Kansas became the thirty-fourth state of the United States.

Now the largest city in Kansas, Wichita, has about 390,000 people (59th in the list of the largest cities in the United States); in the agglomeration formed around the city – about 640,000 people. The state capital, Topeka, has about 125,000 residents.

Kansas is part of the US grain belt and is one of the largest producers of wheat, sunflowers, corn, soybeans and other crops. The state has well-developed animal husbandry, as well as some industries (primarily food and aircraft manufacturing). An important branch of the state’s economy is the extraction of oil and other minerals.
