Making a curriculum vitae is not really difficult, however sometimes it is difficult to know what to write because being the curriculum vitae for the first job, does not have much experience that can be considered as an added value in the job market.
In this article, we have prepared for you some valuable tips you should keep in mind when writing your curriculum.
Important notes about the curriculum vitae
Before explaining how to do a resume, it is important to leave some notes that you should take into account when you start filling out your resume. If you take these tips to the letter, you will see that it is quite simple.
1- Do not invent
As you fill out the curriculum vitae in Portuguese, you will see that several questions can allow a little extra flowering. It is important that you put this flower aside and be as sincere as possible. If you have never worked, do not put anything in this field (do not invent a position in a company because it will only be harmful for you).
2 – Use the European curriculum
If your area of training is not design, arts, communication or marketing, choose to do the European curriculum vitae as it is the most common and also the one that companies prefer (it is not worth exaggerating in the curriculum aspect if that part can to be a reason for exclusion by companies).
3 – I’m careful about photography
Not all people are photogenic, however it is important that you have a conventional photograph on the resume. Unless the position is model, never, but never even put in this document a photograph of a bathing suit, or at a time of party or leisure. The curriculum is something strictly professional, and your photography may be grounds for discarding your resume without reading it.
Tips to properly fill out the resume
There are several fields that you have to fill out when you are making your first curriculum, we will tell you what to put in each of the locations.
1 – Personal information
In this field, you should only enter your name, address and contacts (email and phone number).
2 – Education and Training
In this area, you must put your training, which will start by putting the dates in descending order (from the most recent to the oldest), always emphasizing the most relevant subjects of the course or the master’s degree.
3 – Professional Experience
Okay, in this field you should also put in descending order all the places where you have worked (and that are relevant to your training as a professional), if you have already had 10 different jobs, put only those where you learned more and that were really important for the your professional life.
If you have not yet had any work, leave only the indication that you never had a chance to work and that you are looking for your first job (never put false information in this area of your curriculum).
4 – Skills and Competencies
Ok, this is the part of your curriculum where you can flourish a little. It should describe your personal (speaking, driving license …), social (dynamic, punctual, extroverted, organized, communication skills …), organizational (learning spirit, ability to work under pressure, responsibility …) and computer skills (Microsoft Office domain, user’s internet domain …).
5 – Additional information
At this point, you can put information that does not fit the other typologies, talking a little more about yourself, without abusing as it is obvious. But for example, if you volunteered, erasmus, participated in workshops or contests is good information to share in your resume.
