Factors and Procedures Used in Admissions
(Data appear as originally submitted by this school)
Full-time program |
The admissions decision is based on the candidate’s potential to be successful in the program, his or her ability to contribute to the class perspective and Smith’s ability to accommodate a limited number of students. Work experience gives an important edge; GPA, GMAT scores, a resume and two letters of recommendation related to the applicant’s professional and academic performance are required. |
Executive program |
Applicants tend to have an undergraduate degree, 8-20 years of professional experience and significant management experience. Candidates are reviewed as unique individuals and the sum of their experiences evaluated. They must submit an application with essays, transcripts, a sponsorship letter, and two letters of recommendation on their professional expertise. An interview is also required. |

Curricula Descriptions
(Data appear as originally submitted by this school)
Full-time program |
The core emphasizes key concepts in accounting, marketing, human capital management, managerial economics, strategic management, finance, and supply chain management/logistics. Elective courses on globalization, entrepreneurship and technology are now pillars of the core, allowing students to choose in those areas. There are also consulting, fund management and venture capital opportunities. |
Executive program |
The EMBA curriculum includes functional skills courses while emphasizing management of the entire organization. Action learning projects and sessions on systems thinking and entrepreneurship allow students to address difficult cross-organizational alignment and performance improvement issues. Students also benefit from a comprehensive assessment center, executive coaching and 360 degree feedback. |
Part-time program |
The program delivers a foundation in core management skills and specialized knowledge in such areas as consulting, finance, entrepreneurship, marketing and strategy. Lectures, cases, group study and simulations are used. The core is delivered during the first five semesters of the evening program and weekend programs and the first three semesters in the accelerated program. |
