We welcome to our competency-based curriculum applicants who demonstrate essential qualities of a physician and experience in medicine. Our applicants may hold any bachelor’s degree but must perform well on the MCAT. We offer several dual-degree programs on the Twin Cities campus, while the 2-year program at Duluth focuses on preparing students to serve rural and American Indian communities.

Four-year program curriculum
In our new integrated curriculum (www.meded.umn.edu/admissions/curriculum.php), student progress is based on achieving and documenting competencies. The program emphasizes science, progressive development of clinical skills, critical thinking, independent learning time, and advisor-guided flexibility in structure and scheduling. Students may pursue a wide range of clinical/academic interests.
