Spring in Alaska
Alaska is huge in area, its regions are characterized by different climatic conditions.
On the southeast coast of Alaska, near the state capital city of Juneau, the climate is temperate, maritime, with a lot of rain. The average temperature in January is from -6°C to 1°C, in July – from 10°C to 18°C.
In the south of the state, in the region of Alaska’s largest city, Anchorage, the climate is subarctic, but moderated by the proximity of the ocean. There is also a lot of precipitation here, but mostly in the form of snow. Here the average temperature in winter, in January, is from -12°C to -5°C, in summer, in July, from 11°C to 18°C.
In the interior of Alaska, in the Fairbanks region, the climate is continental, subarctic, with long cold winters (from early October to early May) and short, relatively warm summers. The average temperature in January is from -28°C to -18°C, in July – from 11°C to 22°C.
In the north of Alaska, the climate is very severe, arctic. Here, even in summer, the temperature rarely rises above zero.
It was in Alaska that the lowest temperature in the United States in the entire history of observations (-62.2 ° C) was recorded.
