We seek diverse candidates from a wide range of socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, educational, & work backgrounds. We seek students with outstanding leadership potential who will enhance their fellow classmates’ learning experience. We assess candidates based on academic history/potential, quality/quantity of work experience, leadership capacity/experience, and overall fit with the Smeal culture.
Executive program
Based on resume, undergrad transcripts, interview, and two recommendations. Interested in career accomplishments to date, goals for future, and their capacity to reach those goals. Must have management, leadership experience. Candidate must demonstrate ability to succeed in rigorous program. Target student has a minimum of eight years post-undergrad experience.

Full-time program
The 1st year of the Smeal MBA focuses on leadership development and business fundamentals. In the 2nd year, you can choose from 5 pre-defined concentration options or design a custom concentration of your own. Curriculum highlights are a year-long leadership communications class, a leadership development plan, a global immersion trip, the “Exec Panel” case competition, and AP®EX, a capstone course.
Executive program
First year concentrates on three fundamentals: leadership, strategic analysis, and money management. Year one courses form a foundation for more advanced courses in year two. Unique feature of year one is year-long Leadership Communications. The second year features Executive Leadership Core. The second year includes Global Immersion with elective courses selected by the class.
