French Polynesia
French Polynesia is an overseas community and a constituent country of France, located in the center of the South Pacific Ocean. Managed by the French High Commissioner.
Capital of Papeete. The official language is French. Currency – euro.
Meaning French Polynesia – belonging to France + the Pacific region of Polynesia (Greek: many islands), half of which it occupies. It became part of France at the end of the 19th century.
The climate is tropical, trade wind. Temperature from +18*С to +37*С. During the hot months, the humidity is up to 92%. In January, the islands are subject to devastating cyclones and storms.

Interesting facts
Some islands of French Polynesia have Russian names – Rurik, Lazarev, Kruzenshtern, Raevsky. The Tuamotu archipelago has a second name – the Russian Islands. Since these islands were discovered by Russian sailors.
The French Constitution applies to the islands. Residents of French Polynesia are citizens of France.
The islanders still eat raw fish.
